National FFA Organization

What is FFA?

FFA is a youth organization working to change lives and prepare members for premier leadership, personal growth and career success through agriculture education. This organization develops members' potential and helps them discover their talent through hands-on experiences, which give members the tools to achieve real world success in different career fields. Being an intracurricular student organization for those interested in agriculture and leadership - it is one of the three components of agricultural education.

FFA is not just for students who want to be production farmers; FFA also welcomes members who aspire to careers as teachers, doctors, scientists, business owners and more. For this reason, the name of the organization was updated in 1988 from Future Farms of America to the National FFA Organization after a vote of national convention delegates to reflect the growing diversity and new opportunities in the industry of agriculture. Our members live the motto Learning to Do, Doing to Learn, Earning to Live and Living to Serve. FFA members rise to the challenge of service embracing members of all walks of life united through FFA.

Program Structure

Our FFA chapter is an affiliated chapter, meaning anyone who takes an agricultural class is considered to be an FFA member. However, what you make of that membership is up to you.

An Active FFA member commits to the following throughout the school year as stated by National FFA and our constitution. If you plan to show at fair or be eligible for national or state convention you must be an active member.

Inactive members are agriculture education students but do not partake in any FFA activities outside of the classroom. However, that does not mean you can't become an active member later on in the year.
