Activities that help the individual develop technical, human relations and decision-making skills to grow leaders.

  • Career Development Events - Sub-Districts    

    • 14 FFA Members competed in 4 different CDE contests for sub-districts at Coon Rapids-Bayard in December 

    • 14 members at sub-districts took the Greenhand Quiz 

    • 8 members at sub-districts took the Chapter Farmer Quiz

  • Career Development Events - Districts

    • 20 FFA Members competed in 5 different district CDE contests at Corning on March 6th

    • 3 at districts took the Greenhand Quiz

    • 19 members at districts took the Farm Business Management Quiz  

    • 2 member served as a chapter delegate for district convention

  • Career Development Events 

    • 7 FFA Members attended District Soil Judging in Griswold, IA

    • 4 members competed at the State Horse Evaluation at Kirkwood College 

    • During state Food Science in Ames, the team of 3 placed 5th overall and 1 individual place 6th overall

    • At Manchester, 4 members engaged in State Milk Quality and Evaluation 

  • ​State Convention

    • 17 Member were involved in 4 different CDE Events at State Convention
    • 2 Members served as Chapter Delegates
    • 1 Member partook in Massing of the Flags
    • 1 Member participated in Chapter Display
    • 2 Members competed in the Greenhand Quiz

  • National FFA Convention

    • 10 members attended the National FFA Convention in Indianapolis, IN

  • Officer Retreat 

    • 6 Chapter officers traveled to Atlantic, IA to participate in Southwest District Chapter Officer Leadership Training

    • 6 Chapter officers attended a 3 day retreat in Decorah, IA 

Healthy Lifestyle

Activities that promote the well-being of students mentally or physically, in achieving the positive evolution of the whole person.

  • Chapter Social Events

    • 7 FFA members and 4 guests participated in a kickball game 

    • 9 members attended the Mario Kart social​

Battle of the Chapters

  • ​11 FFA members and 18 guests participated in Battle of the Chapters 

Scholarship

Activities that develop a positive attitude toward lifelong learning experiences.

  • Senior Cords

    • 3 Members received an FFA senior cord at graduation

    • 3 Members achieved an academic achievement 

Personal Growth

Activities conducted that improve the identity and self-awareness of members. These activities should reflect members’ unique talents and potential by reinforcing their human and employability skills. The activities should strive to enhance the quality of life and contribute to members’ life goals and development.

  • Membership Degrees

    • 7 Members applied for and received their Greenhand Degree 

    • 5 Members applied for and received their Chapter Degree

    • 1 Members applied for and received their Iowa Degree

    • 1 Member applied for and received their American Degree

  • Fall Fundraiser

    • $30,191.00 worth of meat, cheese, popcorn, butter braids, candy, and fruit was sold to the community with $11,146.05 in profit from the sale 

    • 24 members reached a selling goal of $500 for new members and $750 for returning members

    • 11 members sold over $1,000 to join the $1,000 Club

Career Success

Activities that promote student involvement and growth through agriculture related experiences and/or entrepreneurship and promote career readiness.

  • Supervised Agricultural Experiences (SAEs)

    • All 89 FFA members were required to have an SAE project

  • Fall Career Development Event Day

    • ​13 members traced to Northwest Missouri State University to participate in 4 mock contests
       

  • Livestock Judging 

    • 4 members attend the Gold Buckle Judging Contest in Ottumwa, IA 

    • At the Mt. Ayr Livestock Evaluation Contest, 4 members participated

  • Horse Evaluation

    • ​A team of 3 evaluated horses at the Gold Buckle Judging contest in Ottumwa, IA

    • During the Mt. Ayr Livestock Evaluation Contest, the team of 3 earned 3rd 
       

Building Community

Environmental

Activities conducted to preserve natural resources and develop more environmentally responsible individuals.

  • Soil Judging

    • 7 FFA members participated in the District Soil Judging competition at Griswold

Human Resources

Activities conducted to improve the welfare and well-being of members and citizens of the community.

  • The Gardens

    • ​3 FFA members delivered extra fundraising items to the local retirement home

  • Goods Drive

    • ​​2 chapters competed against each other during a good drive collecting a total of 413 items to support our local food pantries

Citizenship

Activities conducted to encourage members to become active, involved citizens of their school, community and country

  • Adopt a Family

    • 5 FFA members helped pack meals for 155 community members 

    • 24 pork loins donated

  • Meals from the Heartland 

    • 17 FFA members helped to pack meals at State Convention 
  • Russell Park Tree Planting
    • In the fall, 10 members volunteered with Trees Forever to plant trees 
       

Stakeholder Engagement

Activities conducted to develop teamwork and cooperation between the local chapter and stakeholders.

  • Cattlemen’s Banquet

    • 14 members provided table service at the Cattlemen’s Annual Banquet

  • Farm Safety Day

    • 5 FFA members presented to 96 4th grade students at Farm Safety Day in partnership with Greene County Farm Bureau 

  • Food Stand

    • 8 FFA members assisted in the food stand in partnership with the Greene County 4-H Extension 

  • School Board Presentation

    • After National FFA Convention, 6 members presented on their experience

  • Concession Stand

    • 19 members assisted the Booster Club with concession stand at games

Economic Development

Activities conducted to improve the economic welfare of the community

  • Chapter Scrapbook 

    • 1 Chapter Scrapbook was completed with history of our chapter 

  • Iowa and American Degrees 

    • 1 FFA members received their Iowa Degrees 

    • 1 FFA member received their American Degree

Activities conducted to develop and maintain positive relations among FFA, parents and community leaders interested in supporting agricultural education.

    • 11 new members received jackets during the ceremony​

Chapter Recruitment

Activities conducted to increase agricultural education enrollment and/or FFA membership and encourage greater participation.

  • Postcard Invites

    • 190 postcards were sent to incoming 8th and 9th graders

  • Back to School Kick-Off

    • 26 members and 35 guests attended FFA Kick-Off

  • Greenhand-Fire Up

    • 4 members attended a greenhand fire-up this fall

Safety

Activities that enhance safety in the community.

  • Farm Safety Day

    • ​5 students help to educate 4th graders on Farm Safety Day

  • 9th Grade Safety

    • 15 FFA members presented to 95 9th grade students discussing driving safety around large farm equipment, semis, and anhydrous tanks

Agricultural Advocacy

Activities conducted to articulate and promote agricultural programs, practices, policies and/or education to elicit action.

  • FFA Week

    • 100% of FFA Members took part in FFA Week Activities 

    • 347 students from 1st-4th graders participated in a coloring contest 

    • At an assembly, 190 7th and 8th graders heard a keynote address from a previous FFA state officer

    • 10 students participated in the FFA sponsored Car and Truck Show

  • Chapter Display 

    • 1 member created a Chapter Display to be displayed at State Convention 

  • Social Media

    • The FFA Chapter has 2 social media accounts, reaching over 122 followers on Facebook, and  107 on Instagram​

  • Greene County Fair

    • 11 FFA Members competed in showing livestock at the Greene County Fair in 4 different species, including beef cattle, horses, goats, and swine. 

  • Iowa State Fair

    • 7 FFA Members competed at the Iowa State Fairgrounds, showing 4 different species 

Agricultural Literacy

​Activities that help consumers become better informed about the production, distribution and daily impact of food, fiber and fuel.

  • Teaching Assistants​

    • ​1 members have served as a teaching assistance for middle school exploratory and other agricultural classes

  • Elementary Lesson

    • During FFA week, 14 members taught lessons to 1st-4th graders about the difference between dairy and beef cows and products from cattle​

  • Community Trivia

    • 11 guests and 8 members answered agricultural and FFA  related questions during FFA Week

    • 7 FFA members serve on the crop plot committee partnered with the NRCS office and Iowa Cover Crop

    • 13 FFA members serve on the crop plot planning committee

    • 20 acres were planted and harvested with oats, rye, soybeans, and corn
